Block 8: 6x4 – Building Strength Through Better Movement

Our next training block is here, and this cycle we're shifting to a 6 sets x 4 reps approach on our primary strength lifts.

While the total volume comes down slightly compared to previous blocks, the focus doesn't change: move better and get stronger.

By lowering the rep count, we'll have more opportunities to produce high-quality repetitions with slightly heavier loads while staying technically sound.

Quality Before Quantity

One of the biggest goals of this block is continuing to improve movement quality.

Strength isn't just about adding weight to the bar. It's about consistently putting your body in the right positions, creating stability, and developing better movement patterns that transfer to everyday life.

That's why you'll notice this block we lay the foundation each session before progressing to our main lifts.

Every Session Has a Purpose

Each workout begins with three phases designed to set you up for your best possible strength session.

Movement Preparation

We'll start every class with a full-body movement prep designed to increase body temperature, improve mobility, and get your joints moving through their full range of motion. These drills are selected to prepare your body—not simply to make you sweat.

Section A – Mobility

Next comes our targeted mobility work.

This section addresses the specific muscles and movement patterns you'll need for the day's main lift. Think of it as building the foundation before loading the movement.

Section B – Activation

The final preparation phase is your movement primer.

These exercises reinforce proper mechanics, improve coordination, and help "dial in" movement patterns before touching the barbell. By the time you reach your main lift, your body should already know exactly what it's supposed to do.

The Main Lifts

This block continues to emphasize total-body strength with three primary lifts each week:

  • Monday: Zercher Barbell Box Squat – 6×4

  • Wednesday: Pause Barbell Bench Press (with shoulder saver) – 6×4

  • Friday: Hex Bar Deadlift – 6×4

Each lift is paired with complementary movements that reinforce good mechanics, improve stability, and build balanced strength throughout the session.

Expectations

As the reps decrease, the expectation for execution increases.

Come into each set with intent.

  • Own every rep.

  • Stay disciplined with your technique.

  • Focus on creating quality movement before adding weight.

  • Trust the process and let strength build over the course of the block.

Remember, we're not chasing fatigue—we're chasing performance.

Let's Get to Work

This block is a great opportunity to build a stronger foundation.

The athletes who make the biggest improvements aren't always the ones lifting the heaviest weights. They're the ones who consistently move well, pay attention to the details, and stack quality training sessions week after week.

Let's make every session and every rep count!
